Varicose Veins / Venous Disorders
Vein ablation is a minimally-invasive, outpatient alternative treatment to vein stripping for varicose veins. The procedure is performed by injecting a local anesthetic around the vein, and then inserting a thin catheter. A laser is applied to the inside of the vein, which cauterizes and closes the diseased vein. After the diseased vein has been closed, other healthy veins take over to carry blood from the leg, re-establishing normal, healthy blood flow back to the heart. This procedure is performed under conscious sedation with constant monitoring by a nurse and every procedure is performed by a board certified physician.
